You don’t have to carry this alone.

A local support group run by bereaved mothers, for mothers living with the death of a child—a gentle place to be understood, to remember and to find your way alongside others.

A place for love, loss
and everything after.

Take your time

Grief doesn’t need fixing.
It needs company.

The death of a son or daughter can make the world feel suddenly unfamiliar. Even surrounded by people who care, a mother can feel profoundly alone in what comes next.

We are creating the kind of community where nothing has to be made smaller or tidier for other people’s comfort. Where names can be spoken. Where hard days are allowed. Where being understood can begin with just sitting beside someone who knows.

Support that meets
you where you are.

Our monthly Lower Chittering gatherings are part of The Compassionate Friends community and led by parents who know this journey through lived experience.

01

Small, welcoming circles

Regular gatherings where mothers can talk, listen, remember and simply be—without pressure to explain or move on.

02

Peer connection

Gentle introductions between mothers who understand that grief changes shape, but does not follow a timetable.

03

Practical pathways

A carefully chosen collection of grief services, crisis contacts and everyday guidance for the moments that feel hardest.

04

Remembrance, together

Shared rituals and community events that make room for every child’s name, story and continuing place in their family.

Born from a mother’s love.

Mothers Coming Together was founded by Catherine Ramsey, a mother turning personal loss into a place of connection, remembrance and understanding.

After Catherine’s son Shane died in 2024, she experienced both the fierce love of community and the loneliness that can follow when the immediate support quietens. This idea grew from a simple belief: no mother should have to find her way through that silence alone.

Our children are part of every day that follows. Here, there will always be room for them.

Our founding belief

Shane’s story is part of our beginning, not the boundary of our work. Every mother and every child will be held with equal care.
